Anarchist Bookplace Opstand re-opens!

After a period of renovations and restructuring the collective we are ready to reopen again! So that’s why we want to invite you to a merry get-together.
Upcoming Thursday, 1st of July, from 17:00 to 22.00 at Opstand, Beatrijsstraat 12, Den Haag
There will be a lot of nice things happening:
– FREE BOOKS from the archive
– A selection of NEW BOOKS (see pictures, some interesting stuff)
– Snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and vegan COOKIES 🙂
– BOOK SWAP! wanna swap books with someone? amazing! Bring a book you want to swap, and we’ll also bring some 🙂
Food and books will be offered on donation, which will help us pay the rent and organise more events in the near future!
Also, you will be able to borrow books from our newly created LIBRARY! You can check the inventory online (https://inventaire.io/inventory/Opstand_Library ) . The library is a work in progress, so there will be new books coming in once in a while 🙂 The conditions of borrowing are similar to other anarchist libraries, leave your contact details and a deposit, and you can borrow the book for a month.
Because we know how awkward it can be (not only because of covid but because of 100 reasons) to go to an event again/on one’s own/.. we have prepared some things to hopefully make it easier (we’re nervous too!). There will be some conversation starters to help all of us get to know each other better.
Also there will be a game which we could play together (It’s called BYOB: Bring your own book).
Background music and/or acoustic steven universe songs guaranteed!
Accessibility: The entrance of the Opstand is not wheelchair accessible, but there is a way when you go into the main entrance of the Samenscholing/Water en Brood. The door will be open. In doubt, just call for Max, they’ll come and assist if needed. There is also a suitable toilet.
In the late evening our space is still a bit dark-ish, our apologies, we’re working on it. The get-together will happen both outdoors (in front of the Opstand) and indoors, to keep it safe. Please bring your own face mask.

Na een periode van verbouwingen en herstructurering van het collectief zijn we klaar om weer open te gaan! Daarom willen we jullie uitnodigen voor een gezellig samenzijn.

Er zullen een heleboel leuke dingen gebeuren!
– GRATIS BOEKEN uit het archief
– Een selectie NIEUWE BOEKEN (zie foto’s, interessante dingen)
– Hapjes en drankjes (alcoholisch en non-alcoholisch) en veganistische COOKIES 🙂
– BOEKENWISSEL! Wil je boeken ruilen met iemand? Geweldig! Breng een boek mee dat je wilt ruilen, wij nemen ook wat mee 🙂
Eten en boeken zijn op donatie, wat ons zal helpen de huur te betalen en meer evenementen te organiseren in de nabije toekomst!
Je kan vanaf die dag ook boeken lenen uit onze nieuw opgerichte BIEB! Je kunt de inventaris online bekijken (https://inventaire.io/inventory/Opstand_Library ). De bibliotheek is een werk in uitvoering, dus er zullen wel af en toe nieuwe boeken binnenkomen 🙂 De voorwaarden voor het lenen zijn vergelijkbaar met andere anarchistische bibliotheken, laat je contactgegevens achter en een borg, en je kunt het boek voor een maand lenen.
Omdat we weten hoe raar het kan zijn (niet alleen vanwege covid maar vanwege 100 redenen) om weer naar een evenement te gaan/alleen/… hebben we wat dingen voorbereid om het hopelijk makkelijker te maken (wij zijn ook zenuwachtig!). Er zullen wat gespreksstarters zijn om ons allemaal te helpen elkaar beter te leren kennen.
Ook zal er een spel zijn dat we samen kunnen spelen (het heet BYOB: Bring your own book).

Toegankelijkheid: De ingang van de Opstand is niet rolstoeltoegankelijk, maar er is wel een weg als je de hoofdingang van de Samenscholing/Water en Brood in gaat. De deur staat dan open. Bij twijfel even roepen naar Max, zij komen zo nodig assisteren. Er is ook een geschikt toilet.
In de late avond is onze ruimte nog een beetje donker, onze excuses, we werken eraan. Het evenement zal zowel buiten (aan de voorkant/in de voortuin de Opstand) als binnen gebeuren, om het veilig te houden. Neem alsjeblieft je eigen gezichtsmasker mee.
