On March 1, 2006, the the squat Youth House on Jagtvej 69 was evicted by the police. Subsequently riots broke out in the streets of Copenhagen. The film follows the struggle of the squatters for the last six months, from the inside.

Come and let’s get inspired by the story of Jagtvej 69.

social anxiety is een ding en veel van ons raken ook snel overprikkeld. Als je wilt komen, een je hebt specifieke benodigdheden, laat het weten! er is iig een ruimte met couches waar je ook kunt zitten. de ingang en de toiletten zijn helaas beperkt toegankelijk voor rolstoelgebruikers (in specifiek zijn het de brandveiligheidsdeuren, die zwaar zijn, en de ingangsdeur welke alleen met een handle naar buiten toe opengaat.)
🌬 Covid: je mag je eigen masker meenemen, anders hebben we ook maskers en zelftests op locatie, maar wees solidair en doe eentje voordat je komt. Er is geen maximum aan mensen, maar afhankelijk van hoeveel er komen gaan we even aanpassen en kijken hoe we het het veiligst kunnen maken!

If you want to come, or you have specific needs, let us know! there is a room with couches where you can also sit. unfortunately the entrance and the toilets have limited access for wheelchair users (specifically it is the fire doors, which are heavy, and the entrance door which only opens outwards with one handle.)
🌬 Covid: you can bring your own mask, otherwise we also have masks and self-tests on location, but show solidarity and do one before you come. There is no maximum number of people, but depending on how many come we will adjust and see how we can make it safest!

De Samenscholing – in short
De Samenscholing is not too busy with social media, but they are busy with the neighborhood, self autonomy and DIY. You might follow the Opstand (anarchist bookplace with free cookies and queer people running it always :)P) or Water en Brood (@water.en.brood),the vegan organic restaurant, or you were at the free shop (Weggeefwinkel Bea-nix on FB) to get a small impression of the many things happening there!
After lengthy renovations of the building, which de samenscholers sort of won from a struggle for an alternative-cultural center with the municipality of The Hague, the first events started to happen in 2018, spaces got established, etc.
The Free shop, weekly outside affordable bar evenings, concerts of underground bands, a bookspace with anarchist library and political events, movie screenings, a vegan and organic restaurant, DIY language courses, artist studios, workplace… And always open for more ideas, a space where you can organise an event as well.
Anti-capitalist, and for social profit instead of monetary profit!
What’s happening now:
De Wethouders of the city (Van Asten vor culture and  Bruines for economy) are pushing for the cancellation of the usage contract of the building on the Beatrijsstraat 12 – to gentrify and redevelop it to an ‘economisch verzamelgebouw (‘economische broedplaats’) voor de maakindustrie’, so a building for what they call ‘small businesses’, with rents up to 100€/m2.
And all this in the middle of a small social housing neighborhood, in a space where right now kids play and the neighborhood gets together to share stuff and support each other.

Next week Thursday (21.4.2022) the municipality will vote on two things: the cancellation of the contract of the users of the Beatrijsstraat 8-12 (Helikopter artist studios and De Samenscholing Vrijplaats) and the Proposal for the redevelopment of the building situated there.
There one can make use of one’s democratic right: ‘inspreken’. (calling by video or coming in person for talking or making a point in their discussions for 3 minutes max.) More details below.
This is the only leverage we still have right now for the neighborhood and the the people and collectives involved and all those who in the future would like to organise cool stuff for free, have a place to try themselves out and not get poor going out etc…

How to inspreken:

you need to speak dutch. (but you actually don’t need to speak, you can also play a song or rant)
You can be there in person or call in via phone or videocall. tell them at the registration.

Talking about Caliban and The Witch, meeting #6!
February 3th we’ll meet at 7pm to talk about everything until and including chapter 5. (more like chapter  or as far as we have come collectively)
Opstand is open from 6pm, you can come and have food with us from @water.en.brood if you want.

You don’t need to have any prior experience with the topic to join the reading group, just willingness to discuss and learn from each other. If you are planning to join us, please send us a message to let us know that you are coming, so that we can account for the number of people attending because of higher covid19 cases. Bring your facemask please, otherwise we have some here in case you forgot yours!
Accessibility: The entrance of the Opstand is not wheelchair accessible, but there is a way when you go into the main entrance of the Samenscholing/Water en Brood. The door will be open. In doubt, just call for Max, they’ll come and assist if needed. There is also a suitable toilet.
Next tramstation is Anna Bijnslaan. Parking in the evening is only handy for bikes!
What is “Caliban and The Witch” about? 
“Caliban and the Witch” is a marxist-feminist classic that explores the transition from feudalism to capitalism, a transition that, Federici argues, could only be achieved through the brutal subjugation of women. Moving from medieval peasant revolts through the European witch hunts to the colonisation of America and the transatlantic slave trade, Federici shows that capitalism did not come into existence naturally: it was built on violence. She brings to light that women were often at the forefront of resistance against the new capitalist order, both in Europe and in the colonies, and that capitalism’s birth required the creation of a new kind of patriarchy.
Some of us have already read this book; it is mind blowing and extremely interesting, but also very dense and complex. That is why we want to read it together, to be able to understand it through conversations which each other, and perhaps also to critique it, to be able to formulate our own opinions. What is the connection between witch hunting and capitalism? Where do current patriarchal norms come from, and what purpose do they serve the capitalist powers? We will discuss these questions (and more) while reading this fascinating book.
