Join us 28 January @opstand for this film screening!
Laila’s birthday, 2008, directed by Rashid Masharawi.
The film is about Abu Laila, a former Judge now taxi driver in Ramallah. During his day his mission is to pick up a present and a cake for his seven-year-old daughter’s birthday celebration. But the daily life in Palestine has other plans.
Laila’s Birthday is a Palestinian film that works on many levels and speaks of the difficulties of keeping your soul alive in an occupied country where inconvenience, frustrations, and dangers are ever present.
*Trigger warnings: violence*
Doors open 19.00, movie starts at 19.30 and is 1h33m. After the screening we will have a short discussion. DM or email us for the location.
