De Samenscholing – in short
De Samenscholing is not too busy with social media, but they are busy with the neighborhood, self autonomy and DIY. You might follow the Opstand (anarchist bookplace with free cookies and queer people running it always :)P) or Water en Brood (@water.en.brood),the vegan organic restaurant, or you were at the free shop (Weggeefwinkel Bea-nix on FB) to get a small impression of the many things happening there!
After lengthy renovations of the building, which de samenscholers sort of won from a struggle for an alternative-cultural center with the municipality of The Hague, the first events started to happen in 2018, spaces got established, etc.
The Free shop, weekly outside affordable bar evenings, concerts of underground bands, a bookspace with anarchist library and political events, movie screenings, a vegan and organic restaurant, DIY language courses, artist studios, workplace… And always open for more ideas, a space where you can organise an event as well.
Anti-capitalist, and for social profit instead of monetary profit!
What’s happening now:
De Wethouders of the city (Van Asten vor culture and Bruines for economy) are pushing for the cancellation of the usage contract of the building on the Beatrijsstraat 12 – to gentrify and redevelop it to an ‘economisch verzamelgebouw (‘economische broedplaats’) voor de maakindustrie’, so a building for what they call ‘small businesses’, with rents up to 100€/m2.
And all this in the middle of a small social housing neighborhood, in a space where right now kids play and the neighborhood gets together to share stuff and support each other.

!!! The urgency: !!!
Next week Thursday (21.4.2022) the municipality will vote on two things: the cancellation of the contract of the users of the Beatrijsstraat 8-12 (Helikopter artist studios and De Samenscholing Vrijplaats) and the Proposal for the redevelopment of the building situated there.
There one can make use of one’s democratic right: ‘inspreken’. (calling by video or coming in person for talking or making a point in their discussions for 3 minutes max.) More details below.
This is the only leverage we still have right now for the neighborhood and the the people and collectives involved and all those who in the future would like to organise cool stuff for free, have a place to try themselves out and not get poor going out etc…
How to inspreken:
you need to speak dutch. (but you actually don’t need to speak, you can also play a song or rant)
You can be there in person or call in via phone or videocall. tell them at the registration.
you need to call +31 70 3533131, or mail griffie@denhaag.nl and sign up with your last name for the agendapoint O of the Raadsvergadering on 14.02.2022. However you do it: make it a point that this is not supposed to happen!
