Op vrijdag 26 oktober laat een nieuw feministisch initiatief de documentaire She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry zien in de Opstand. Deze documentaire focust zich op de geschiedenis en de ontwikkelingen van feministische actie bewegingen die ontstonden in de jaren ‘60. Ondanks dat de documentaire zich focust op de feministische bewegingen in Verenigde Staten, worden er verschillende kwesties rondom intersectionaliteit en discriminatie aangesneden. Kwesties die ook van belang zijn binnen de huidige maatschappij waar wij in leven.
Dit zal de eerste keer zijn dat iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in het feministische initiatief samen kan komen. Op deze avond zal er daarom ook informatie worden gegeven over het feministische initiatief en is er ruimte voor discussie. Het idee van het opzetten van een feministisch initiatief is ontstaan vanuit Haagse activisten die zich bezig willen houden met feministische vraagstukken en zich op een horizontale manier willen organiseren. Het zichtbaar maken en afwijzen van sociale ongelijkheden zien deze activisten als de eerste stap om verandering te verkrijgen. Deze verandering willen ze opeisen door middel van bijeenkomsten, discussies en acties te organiseren en faciliteren. Het initiatief is een open groep, iedereen die interesse heeft in het aansnijden van ongelijkheden en feminisme is welkom tijdens de bijeenkomsten.

On Friday the 26th of October, a new feminist initiative will show the documentary ‘she’s beautiful when she’s angry’ in the Opstand. This documentary focusses on the history and development of feminist action movements in the ‘60s. Despite that this documentary mainly shows the occurrence of feminist movements in the United States, different issues on intersectionality and discrimination are brought up and are discussed. Issues that are still very important within the society we live in.
This will be the first time that everyone who is interested in the feminist initiative can come together. On this night there will be information provided about the feminist initiative and there will also be room for discussion. The idea of setting up a feminist initiative was initiated by activists from the Hague who want to focus on feminist issues and do so by organizing themselves in a horizontal way. These activists hope to see change happening when social inequalities are made visible and are rejected. This change they want to demand through discussions and by organising and facilitating actions and meetings. The initiative is an open group, everyone who is interested in discussing inequalities and feminism is welcome!
